Sonsub Captures Drilling Support & Completion Contract for ROV
Sonsub International has been awarded a two-year contract by client Spirit Energy. Commencing sea trials in the first quarter of the year 2000, Sonsub will operate Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Innovator 8 from the Transocean drill ship Discoverer Spirit. Project operations will be performed in the Gulf of Mexico at a water depth up to 3,000 meters and will focus on drill support and completion activities. A comprehensive six-man crew providing continuous 24-hour service will operate the Sonsub in-house built Innovator ROV.

With a high voltage power drive system (4,500v) and rated in excess of 3,000 meters water depth, the Innovator system targets a wide range of applications from deepwater construction and drilling support to pipeline and telecommunications cable burial. Recent sea trials have confirmed its success as the new-generation, high-specification, high-power, fault-tolerant, work-class ROV capable of performing demanding deepwater construction and drill support tasks.
